DOGTV's First-Ever 'Dogsgiving' - Dr. Marty Becker

DOGTV’s First-Ever ‘Dogsgiving’

Sunnyvale, Calif. – Nov. 18, 2014 – DOGTV, the first and only television network created just for dogs, today announced the launch of its first-ever Dogsgiving – seven days of free, Fido-friendly programming that gives thanks to man’s best friend. From Nov. 24 – 30, DIRECTV will offer free access to DOGTV (channel 354) to its more than 20 million subscribers, so dogs and their parents across the country can tune in to the never-before-seen content.

The variety of new programming is meant to inspire health and happiness for the furriest members of the family, and will include:

  • The premiere of “Best Breed Ever,” a series from Discovery DigitalNetworks – the digital programming division of the world’s leading non-fiction video company, Discovery Communications – that provides viewers with the essentials needed to determine which pet companion is the best fit.
  • Exercise classes from K9 Fit Club, the leaders in human and canine fitness, dedicated to providing educational & professional certificate training. Episodes include fun, fitness, expert advice, and inspirational and transformational stories from both ends of the leash.
  • Three brand new shows, including “Arson Dog” with DOGTV pet expert Victoria Stilwell, where viewers can watch her lead an arson dog through drills, while getting critiques and tips from trainers and fellow handlers; “Rescue Stories,” which features touching stories of rescued dogs; and “Bite This Book,” during which actors will read bedtime stories to their dogs.
  • The second season of “DOGSTAR,” featuring television actress and dog-lover Maggie Lawson, which showcases home videos of canine viewers competing for the chance to be the newest star of DOGTV programming.

Additionally, DOGTV will air segments and interviews with DOGTV pet experts, including Victoria Stilwell, star of Animal Planet’s “It’s Me or the Dog” and one of the world’s most recognized and respected dog trainers, and Dr. Marty Becker, known as “America’s Veterinarian,” and the author of 22 books focused on animal behavior and frequent contributor to “Good Morning America” and “The Dr. Oz Show.” This expert duo will also participate in live Q&As on DOGTV’s Facebook and Twitter pages, giving fans the opportunity to learn from the pros.

“DOGTV is always looking for new ways to engage our canine viewers, and we are proud to offer pet parents and their pups new content specifically designed to promote health, stimulation and positive behavior,” said Gilad Neumann, CEO of DOGTV. “Happy pet families are something to be grateful for, so we hope DIRECTV subscribers enjoy their free week of never-before-seen Dogsgiving programming.”

“Providing as much opportunity as possible to keep our dogs in the best physical and mental shape of their lives is the least we can do to show our gratitude for how much happier and healthier they make us,” added Dr. Marty Becker.

DOGTV’s original content is scientifically developed and tested to provide 24-hour, dog-approved television for stay-at-home dogs. The channel features programming split into three categories – relaxation, stimulation and exposure – which work collaboratively to provide just the right balance for the daily routines of dogs.
